The beauty of our outdoor adventure activities is that all ages can take part, enjoy family time together and feel the reward of taking part in our exciting experiences. Families are our biggest customers in fact. For some a family is a parent and child, for some it’s a huge group including cousins and second cousins! No matter their age, everyone gets so much out of their adventures with us.
Three Generations of Fun!
We often have children, parents and grandparents booking our outdoor adventure activities in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. Whether they are locals wanting a day out or families on holiday in the area, it can be hard to find activities which everyone will enjoy. Our outdoor activities are ideal – we can provide a gentle meander down the river or a thrilling adventure. There really is something for everyone. You could take a three person canoe and paddle slowly downstream or take individual kayaks and go out on the rapids; try our eight-person Mega stand-up paddleboard, scramble up a Welsh gorge or get out on your mountain bikes cycling through the Forest. All of our activities are fun, and all can be as challenging as you want them to be, but all are certainly brilliant to experience all together, no matter your age.
School Holiday Activities for All the Family
Easter is really the first school holiday of the year where we get booked up by families. Campsites and glampsites are open again and (fingers crossed!) the weather is warmer and drier and we can all spend more time outside. Although there are several activities which we run throughout the year, our most popular, canoeing and kayaking on the River Wye, really take off in the spring. The beauty of the journey is in the valley surrounding the river, and by Easter the trees are full of leaves, the banks are covered in wild flowers and there are lambs in the fields. It’s always a joy to see cygnets, goslings, ducklings and other baby birds such as coots and moorhens on the river, all of which nest close to the river banks.
The school summer holidays are our busiest times of course – we take bookings a year in advance! So many families visit the area at this time and even locals book a campsite or holiday home even though they only live a short distance away! Simply because it’s a wonderful place to go on holiday. A special family celebration often brings people together staying locally in one of the many big holiday houses too. But families is definitely what the summer is all about for us.
Perfect for Kids of All Ages (even Teenagers)!
Canoeing with kids is a great family activity, and it teaches youngsters confidence and responsibility in a safe and rewarding environment. Families with kids of different ages often struggle to find activities everyone will enjoy, or to drag their teenagers away from their phones. No devices while out on the river! Our real life 3D interactive Wye Valley will wow them we promise!
Did you know that we offer multi-day packages too? We can organise an entire weekend of activities for groups, taking the hassle out of the planning for you! We’ve got plenty to keep all ages occupied and there is such variety that every activity has its own fun and excitement.
Coming up we have Mother’s Day at the end of March, Easter in April, half-term in May plus two bank holidays, Father’s Day in June and then schools break up in June/July. We can’t wait to take new and old family groups out on an adventure in South Wales this year!
