19th July 2019
We’re into the busy summer season now and the weather has been brilliant recently for our outdoor adventure activities (we hope we haven’t spoken too soon!). With lots of GCSE and A-Level students finishing their exams and looking to let their hair down and celebrate, as well as couples, youth groups, Scouts, hen/stag groups and corporate summer parties we’ve been busier than ever and are looking to be so for the next couple of months.
Although hot and sunny recently, the start of June was actually very wet and the River Wye was very high due to the amount of rain. During the summer months the weather is normally consistent and doesn't have an impact on the activities we deliver though and we’re looking forward to a fun-filled few months of activities. Remember your sunscreen and a hat!

Holiday Ideas in the Wye Valley, Brecon Beacons and Forest of Dean
While you’re here why not make the most of the area and get out exploring our towns? Many of our kayaking, canoeing and SUP trips start and finish in Monmouth and after an afternoon or morning exploring the River Wye you can easily walk into Monmouth town centre from our launch point and find many great shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Or try Green & Jenks Gelato House for delicious gelato made from locally sourced ingredients. Monmouth is a lovely market town to explore with a castle, museum and plenty to see and do.
You can also walk alongside the river from Monmouth if you have family or friends taking part in activities but you don’t want to, offering good views of what’s happening on the river. Or base yourselves at Symonds Yat at one of the cafes or pubs and watch your loved ones kayak or canoe past and capture some photos – just don't forget to tag us on social media!
Fancy getting out on two wheels? There are a multitude of cycle paths all over the area. One of our favourites is the Peregrine Path, an easy route from Monmouth through Symonds Yat to Goodrich Castle that is ideal for younger teens and children too – if you still have the energy after SUPing or canoeing that is! If you don’t have your own you can rent bikes from many local providers and we offer guided mountain biking if you’d prefer too.
As always you can combine any of our activities to make multi-activity holidays too. For example try stand-up paddleboarding, gorge scrambling or rock climbing with a guided canoe/kayak river trip for a full day of adventure in the Wye Valley, Brecon Beacons and Forest of Dean. Just give us a call or email us and this can be arranged as these adventure days are not available to book online yet.
We hope you all have a wonderful summer in this beautiful area and enjoy exploring, adventuring and sightseeing!
